Introducing Luna DeJesus! {Raleigh, NC Photographer}

There’s something heart warming about documenting the different stages of my clients lives. I was incredibly blessed to photograph Emily and Sergio’s wedding day {you can check it out here.} Now, I cherish the opportunity to photograph their new baby girl Miss Luna! I’m not sure there will ever be a more loved baby in history! What a lucky little gal!

The Office Updates! {Asheville, NC Wedding and Boudoir Photographer}

I’ve been working hard to get my office in order. When I first moved in, I just moved with the furniture that I had and none of it matched and I didn’t have any chairs. But, after a few weeks I’ve been able to update a few things and even get some organization in place! Here are the images from before…

481419_642845166703_554074775_n 483628_642845041953_1359040048_n

Here are the current updates that have been made!

Overall! I love my new shelves for their storage of course. But, their height and all the white help to make my part of the office look larger as well.

I’m very visual. {shocking that I’m a photographer right?} But, because of that, I like to keep clutter to a minimum. If I have things that need to be messy I hide them in bins. hehe.

I love a decorative bookshelf as well. So, I made a point to use pieces I already had to create a balanced and energetic look to my shelves. In here you can see some of the clutter hidden in my bins!

My very exciting and very nerdy coffee station! I realize this could all be as simple as one coffee pot. But, you all know that wouldn’t do.

Chairs are from Ikea and the filing cabinet I got at a yard sale for $5! Kyle painted it white for me. {usually I’m using that tray as a drying station for my coffee wares}

I love my glittery new planner!

I still want to make a new lamp shade and find a better way to hide my desk cords. But, it’s getting there. When we’re all finished I’ll make sure to take pictures that aren’t on my cell phone. geez.

Birthday Week! {Asheville, NC Boudoir and Wedding Photographer}

IT’S MY BIRTHDAY WEEK!!!! As many of you know, I take birthdays really seriously. I celebrate them for a week! Everyday this week I’m doing something as a gift to myself. Sometimes as small as grabbing coffee with a friend or making sure to do yoga everyday. But, no matter what, I’m taking every minute to just enjoy being alive and remember how lucky I am to be here.

Because of that, I’m taking the week off from work. I’ll be in town, but, I’m taking a hardcore stay-cation. If you need anything urgent I will be available. But, otherwise, I’ll talk to you on Tuesday the 29th!

Another great part of this is that you’re going to get to hear from a few lovely guest bloggers this week as well! Look forward to meeting some new faces!

As a very special birthday surprise, I am doing a last minute Valentine’s promotion! Anyone booking a boudoir session between January 31st and February 14th who e-mails me with the subject line “happy birthday” will receive 20% off their session fee!

with love and birthday week!

Wellness Wednesday: The P.I.N.K Method Week 1!

I started my new eating method on Monday. For those that don’t know, I’m following the P.I.N.K Method.  Since I’ve only been following it for 2.5 days I’m still in the re-set phase. At this point and for the next week and a half, I’ll be eating a smoothie with protein in the morning, 4 oz lean protein and veggies for both lunch and dinner, 100 oz. of water everyday, and unlimited amounts of raw veggies as snacks.

I have a seriously bad headache. I’ve had it since Monday. I’m 100% sure that it’s my body craving some kind of junk that it’s used to. {it’s not caffeine ya’ll, I’m still allowed the 1 cup of coffee a day that I’m used to.}

I’m feeling tired and un-motivated to do things. This is a strange feeling for me. I’m guessing it’s just my body adjusting to things.

I’m hungry. Unfortunately, at this point I’m still hungry. I will munch on veggies, but, it feels like it’s making me hungrier.

Not getting popcorn at the movies.

**Bottom line: I’m not concerned about any of these. I feel like they are things that will fade as time passes.**

I’m really glad I was already eating a ton of veggies before. I’ve gotten in the habit of that over the years. So, it wasn’t a difficult transition for me as far as my diet was concerned.

The protein smoothies. I look forward to them every morning. I love the taste of whey protein for some reason, and it’s nice to know what I’m having for breakfast before I even wake up.

Emotionally, I feel great. I feel awesome that I’m taking control of my eating habits. It’s also a stress reliever to know what I’m going to eat at every meal.

Going to Bojangles and being able to eat! I ate a salad with grilled chicken and no dressing. I didn’t feel like I was missing out at all. {which is unusual}

I forgot to take pictures of all of my meals for you guys this week, but, here are is one of the smoothies.

Instead of eating popcorn and diet coke at the movies like I normally would.. I had to sneak in carrots and sparkling water. Don’t tell.

All-in-all, I’m really able to see the things that I was doing wrong. I ate too many processed carbohydrates, mostly in the form of flour tortillas, rice and sandwich holder-togethers.

But, I ate all of the foods that I knew I would miss last week including: indian, chinese, sushi, ice cream, dr.pepper, and cubanos. That way on Monday, I was ready to go.

Hopefully next week, I’ll be able to tell you more about how things are going! But, for now, I’m feeling optimistic!

The Spray Tan Experience with Spray Soleil! {Asheville, NC Boudoir and Wedding Photographer}

I am a pale girl! I’m a redhead to the core and my skin will tell you it’s 100% natural. I tried tanning at the beach once and got second degree burns-on the back of my knees! Needless to say I’m scarred. {literally and figuratively} I have a serious sunburn phobia and thus had given up on any hopes of ever having tan lines.

Until one day, I got an email from the lovely Aislin of Spray Soleil! She asked me to give them a try and invite my staff! So, Eric and I signed up and the next week Sherri showed up at our door!

The coolest part of the spray soleil experience is that they come to you! If you are in the Charlotte or Asheville area, they will come to your house and spray you there! It added a ton to our level of comfort.

Our tans lasted about a week and I was amazed at my tan lines!

They’re extremely professional and good at what they do!

So many of my clients get sprayed tanned before their wedding and/or their boudoir sessions, so I had to take a moment and recommend these gals to you!

Here’s their in-home set-up:

The best news:

Sherri, from the Asheville side of things has generously offered one free spray tan!! If you are in the Asheville area, simply comment below with why you want a spray tan and I’ll announce the winner on Friday!

On top of that:

The next 10 ladies to book a boudoir session with me will receive $10 off a spray tan!

with love and tan lines,

Emily and Todd are Married! {Murphy, NC Wedding Photographer}

There are so many things that go into a wedding day. So many things that can make it special. From the time we arrived last Saturday it was evident what was going to be the ‘thing’ I remember from Emily and Todd’s big day….

Support. There was an air of warmth with every person that I came in contact with. They were all stoked to be there and stoked to see two wonderful people begin their lives with each other. I’m not sure that I’ve ever seen a wedding with so many people devoted to making it the best day ever.

But, if you’ve met Emily or Todd you will completely get it. They are the kind of people that you just like. They’re so down to earth and kind. They also have a way of looking at each other that makes you remember what it felt like to be a newlywed.

The photo on the left was taken by my lovely assistant Tyler. Angela on the left was also a bride of mine!! Love these girls!

Emily and Todd,

You two are just lovely. I am so thankful that you allowed me into your day! Your love for each other is so effortless. I love the way you interact with one another and the ease that you have as a couple. Thanks for allowing me to be a small piece of such a beautiful weekend!

Hundred More Years: Lipstick and Lace {Savannah, GA Boudoir Photographer}

A Hundred More Years
By: Francesca Battistelli

A diamond ring and twelve red roses
Everything she ever wanted
All those dreams and now they’re finally here
She’s so young and he’s so perfect
They waited for love and it was worth it
She wants to feel like this for a hundred years

All this life still yet to live and they can hardly wait
They can laugh
They can cry
The future looks so beautiful and bright
They can dance under the moonlight
‘Cause God is smilin’ down on them tonight
And she wants to stay right here
Make it last for a hundred more years

She’s got blue eyes just like her mother
Three years old, he’s crazy for her
He wants to freeze this day before it dissapears
She’s spinnin’ like a little princess
Makin’ sure he’s gonna notice
He could watch her twirl for a hundred years

She’ll grow up and she’ll leave home but until that day
They can laugh
They can cry
The future looks so beautiful and bright
They can dance under the moonlight
‘Cause God is smilin’ down on them tonight
And he wants to stay right here
Make it last for a hundred more years

And its only time
But it flies right by
And today is sweeter than we know

And so they dance under the moonlight
While God is smilin’ down on them tonight
And they want to stay right here
For a hundred more years

with love,

Marlon and Eric! {Asheville, NC Photographer}

We did a Bonnaroo fashion inspired shoot last week for The 20 Somethings Blog. It was with our great friends Marlon and Eric who stopped by on their way to the festival. While we were shooting these I fell in love with them as a couple just a bit. I love the cute glances and silly moments they shared. So, I thought I’d share a few of the more couple-y ones here. Make sure to check out the real post over at the other blog to see the more fashion-y side of things.

with love,
